Sharjah 24: The Architectural Engineering Department of the College of Engineering, at the University of Sharjah (UoS), designed a digital architectural wall during a workshop in which 20 students from the department participated, over a period of 10 days.
Dr. Aref Maksoud from the Department of Architectural Engineering of the College of Engineering, at the University of Sharjah (UoS), stated that the aim of the workshop in which the students of the department participated, is to introduce the most important and latest technologies used in the world in architecture.

In a statement to “Sharjah 24”, Dr. Maksoud maintained that the workshop lasted for 10 days, for 60 working hours, during which the students of the Department of Architecture Engineering succeeded in implementing and designing the digital wall with a height of 2.5 meters, and a length of 7.5 meters.

The student Kawthar Ahmed from the Department of Architectural Engineering of College of Engineering, at University of Sharjah (UoS), who participated in the project, indicated that the workshop was the first of its kind to design this wall, which was designed using the latest digital technologies, engineering programs, and design tools, highlighting that she learned from the workshop the foundations of parametric design using digital tools and modern materials.

Lina Maher, also a student from the Department of Architectural Engineering of College of Engineering, at University of Sharjah (UoS), said that the work was done in several stages, starting from experimental designs using digital programs, until reaching the chosen design, and moving to the implementation stage, noting that it was agreed the materials used will be light, with the use of laser cutting.
