Sharjah 24: Following the directions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University, signed a cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Gongshang University (ZJGSU), represented by Prof. Shin Xiu Tsan. This is to establish the Silk Road Institute with a permanent base at the University of Sharjah.
This Silk Road project aims to establish cooperation between both universities to offer joint academic and training programs, conduct joint research and exchange faculty members and students. As part of this project, the universities will launch a Bachelor of Logistics Management Program under which students will receive a degree from both universities. Students will also spend a full year at Zhejiang Gongshang University to study the Chinese language as well as take the specialization courses and apprenticeship.

The University of Sharjah has started accepting students who wish to join the program and to obtain a dual degree from both universities. The Silk Road Institute project also includes training Chinese students and teaching them Arabic at the University of Sharjah.

It is worth mentioning that the Silk Road is an old historical project linking China and the countries of the region. The leaders of the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of China are interested in reviving and revitalizing relations at all economic, academic and diplomatic levels, and thus the University of Sharjah is actively contributing to the success of this endeavor
