Sharjah 24: His Excellency Prof. Hamid M.K. Al Naimiy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, presided over the organisation committee meeting for the launch of the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) at the University of Sharjah, which is scheduled during this upcoming April.
A number of local institutions and leaders in this field are expected to attend the launch.

During his meeting address, the Chancellor emphasised that the University of Sharjah aims to establish the College of Computing and Informatics to meet the needs of the local community for such an important and relevant specialisation. It also comes as a response to the desire of many students and their parents, based on the extensive studies conducted by the University during the last period, which emphasised the need of the labor market locally and regionally for such specialisation that serves as a basic support for many different disciplines and professions.

During the meeting, many organisational, administrative and logistical aspects of the launch ceremony were discussed along with the scientific disciplines that the College will begin to offer for studying, its role in serving the other colleges of the University, and the teams and research groups currently working in this field or specialization. They also discussed the establishment of the website of the College, which is scheduled to accept students in September.

The team also reviewed the operational steps of the launch ceremony and invited many companies and organisations interested in computing, artificial intelligence, information security, internet of things, robot technology, and blockchain and its modern applications.
