Sharjah24: His Excellency Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), said, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, today we join the countries of the world in celebrating the “World Tourism Day”, an occasion celebrated by the World Tourism Organization every year on a large international scale, to raise awareness of the importance of the tourism sector from an economic, social, cultural and civilizational perspective, which in itself is a meaningful message to the governments of the countries of the world, to support the plans, initiatives and goals of the tourism sector as it is one of the most important development and economic pillars in the world.
Al Midfa added that scene this year is different, in light of the challenges that the tourism sector faces globally, as well as the societies that have been greatly affected by the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, and the restrictions and measures imposed to prevent it. In light of the forward-looking vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah has succeeded in strengthening its presence on the global tourism map and highlighting its position as an exceptional destination full of distinct cultural, environmental, historical and heritage elements.

In conjunction with the celebration of this occasion, SCTDA, in cooperation with the Rubu Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, launched an initiative to invest the energies of children and youth and enhance their awareness of the importance of tourism in the emirate, and prepare a team of Emirati tour guides to highlight the tourism potentials of the Emirate.
