Sharjah 24: The Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport in Sharjah (AASTS), discussed, during its meeting with a delegation from the Federal Transport Authority – Land and Maritime (FTA), prospects for cooperation to employ all the capabilities of the Academy and the expertise of its educational cadres in order to serve and develop the UAE’s maritime sector, and within its strategic plan to consecrate the country's position as a leading maritime centre in the world.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the AASTS; Eng. Hessa Al Malek, Marine Transport – Executive Director, Federal Transport Authority - Land and Maritime; and several officials from both sides.

The meeting reviewed the prospects for education, training and specialised research studies in the field of developing maritime transport, ports and logistics services, developing training in the field of marine electronic capabilities and maritime cyber security in operating ships, maritime operations and ports, in addition to discussing ways of cooperation in vital matters, including the consolidation of the use of artificial intelligence to confront the problem of oil pollution, port sustainability, blue economy, maritime finance, and consolidating cooperation between the two sides in the field of technical support.
