Sharjah 24: The CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, has revealed the launch of four new tourism projects in Khorfakkan, Kalba, Al Dhaid and Mleiha, as part of Shurooq’s plan to develop the tourism and hospitality sectors in various regions of the Emirate of Sharjah.
Al Serkal confirmed that Shurooq’s launch of these projects is a translation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in developing infrastructure and enhancing the tourism scene in the emirate’s cities to meet the requirements of growth and prosperity in the Eastern and Central Regions of the emirate, indicating that these new projects are responding to the increasing demand for tourism facilities in the emirate, especially hotels.

He said: "We have ready designs for the construction of two five-star hotels in the Eastern Region, one near Khorfakkan Beach with 66 rooms while the other near the Kalba Waterfront project, which includes a commercial centre that the Authority is currently implementing in cooperation with" Eagle Hills", where the two hotels will add momentum for the Eastern Region, knowing that the upcoming hotel in Khorfakkan will include the first water park in this region."

He stated that Shurooq is currently working with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) in Sharjah to construct a 60 - room - hotel that provides a safari experience in Al Dhaid, in a design that takes into account the surrounding area within a natural reserve, which contains many types of African wild animals.

He indicated that it is expected to complete the construction of the “Moon Lodge", which is located within the " Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project. Al Serkal announced that construction works for "Moon Lodge" are expected to be comlete at the end of 2020.

Al Serkal concluded that, by launching new tourism projects, Shurooq aims to support the economic sector in the emirate by stimulating investment in various projects, especially in the Eastern and Central Regions, which constitute a major pillar of tourism attraction in Sharjah.
