Sultan Al Qasimi opens HimChan – UHS spine and Joint Centre

Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, opened on Monday morning the HimChan – UHS spine and Joint Centre at the University Hospital in Sharjah (UHS).
After cutting the ribbon, His Highness toured the corridors of the center, starting with the Physiotherapy Department, which provides two separate sections for men and women. His Highness was acquainted with the equipment and tools contained in the gym, in addition to the most important methods used in rehabilitation and physical therapy.

His Highness was briefed on the clinics section, which includes doctors ’offices and treatment rooms, in addition to the one-day operations rooms.

His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah then reviewed a presentation about the most important microscopic operations that HimChan – UHS spine and Joint Centre specialises in using the latest medical devices and techniques, which contribute to pain relief and side effects on patients, to enhance spine and joint treatments, the center uses laparoscopic surgical technology for spine surgeries to ensure surgical openings less than 1 cm.

The center's staff gave an explanation about the most prominent treatments offered by the center since its reception to the customers in November 2018, as the center has become a major site for spine, joint and physiotherapy treatments in the UAE because of its specialised medical team in addition to world-class medical facilities.

HimChan – UHS spine and Joint Centre has succeeded in receiving more than 8708 patients in outpatient clinics since the opening of the center, and the surgeons have performed over 229 surgeries of the spine, bones and joints and more than 1590 diagnostic surgical procedures.

His Excellency Abdullah Ali Al Mahyan, Chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority (SHA), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University Hospital in Sharjah, said that HimChan – UHS spine and Joint Centre comes within our initiative to work on international partnerships that reflect positively in providing international expertise with the use of the latest medical technology.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number Sharjah heads government departments, senior hospital officials and health authorities.
