Electing Tariq Bin Khadem as Vice President of WDU

Sharjah24: The Emirate of Sharjah hosts the meeting sessions of the World Disability Union from 8 - 9 December, during which His excellency Dr. Tariq Bin Khadem, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Thiqah Club for the Handicapped, was elected as Vice President of the World Disability Union (WDU).
This came during the event which was held at Sheraton Sharjah, in the presence of Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council; His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC); as well as several other dignitaries and officials.

During the first opening session, Matin Turk, President of the International Disability Union, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Emirate of Sharjah for hosting the meeting sessions, indicating a high level of awareness concerning the affairs of people with disabilities. He has further lauded the efforts of the World Disability Union.

During the session, Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi welcomed the attendees, stressing that hosting such event translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aiming to support and empower people with disabilities.

It is worth noting that the Emirate of Sharjah was recently chosen to be the second headquarters of the International Disability Union, in a pioneering achievement for the first time in the Middle East.

For his part, commenting on the honouring, His Excellency Dr. Tariq Bin Khadem has attributed these achievements to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, praising His Highness’ keenness to provide all forms of support for disabled children that contribute positively in their achievements in society.
