Sharjah 24: Sultan Al Sharqi, Secretary General of Dibba Al Hisn Fishermen Cooperative Association, revealed a number of decisions taken recently by the Board of Directors of the Association to ease the burdens of the Association's employees and contribute to the development of the fishing sector in the city.
Al Sharqi said in an exclusive statement to “Sharjah 24” that the board of directors of the Association in its last periodic meeting, chaired by Saif Hassan Al Dhahuri, and in the presence of the secretary and members, approved the health insurance for all employees and workers of the Association, in addition to the employees of the ice factory.

Al Sharqi added that according to the decision, the Association will pay health insurance fees for various employees and workers, thus becoming the first fishermen association in the country to take this decision.

He continued that the decision will be implemented immediately after finalising the procedures and trade-offs between the offers of a number of approved insurance companies, explaining that the provision of insurance would reduce the burdens of employees and workers and motivate them to work harder.

In the same context, within the framework of its plan and endeavours to promote the fishing sector and meet the needs of its workers in the city, the Association has decided to raise the productivity of its ice plant from 30 to 50 tonnes per day.

Al Sharqi also announced that the board of directors has approved a number of supportive decisions for the 143 registered fishermen, including providing them with fishing equipment with easy installments.

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Association, Al Sharqi thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his keen interest in the fishing sector and his unwavering support for the employers in various cities and regions of Sharjah.

He also praised the follow-up by Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA), to the projects and activities of the Association.
