Venezuelan teachers protest to call for salary increases

Sharjah 24 – AFP: Venezuelan teachers march in Caracas to call on the government to increase salaries, saying they are not able to make ends meet due to inflation, which will reach a staggering one million percent this year, according to the International Monetary Fund

Yera Hernandez, teacher said, "The salary is only enough for public transportation fare, food if there is any... 100,000 Bolivars per month for 27 years of service."

Iginia Alvarado, teacher has also added, "I am here once again in the street, to raise our voices in protest, to reject this government measure that is trying to incorporate 'express' teachers in our schools, which we know have no training from a professional and educational point of view. "
