Sharjah24 – Reuters: Germany's first giant panda cubs born on August 31 have opened their eyes for the first time, Berlin Zoo said on Friday as it released a video of the twins.
Panda keeper Corvin Schmohl said in the video that both cubs were growing in an "ideal" way and that it was customary for panda cubs to open their eyes between the 40th and the 60th day after birth.

Immediately after the first birth in August, the mother placed her cub on her belly and warmed it with her large paws and soft fur, said the zoo. Within an hour, a second cub had been born.

As pandas with twins usually raise only one of the cubs, the zoo is actively supporting mother Meng Meng, 6, in the rearing process and has enlisted experts from China's Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding Zoo to help.
